Overview:

Unravel Tanzania’s southern gems with this tour package. Start your safari experience in Nyerere National Park, the largest wildlife park in both Africa and Tanzania and one of the few parks to offer a boat safari.  Proceed onto Mikumi and finally to Ruaha National Park, second largest park in Tanzania and known for offering a rugged wilderness experience. Its dramatic terrain features rolling hills, large baobab trees, and the Great Ruaha River. This unspoiled natural beauty provides a backdrop for diverse wildlife and spectacular birdwatching, making it a hidden gem in Tanzania.  

Itinerary:

Day 1: Boat safari

Pick from your Hotel/ airport at 08h00 and drive to Nyerere National Park via Kisarawe Main Road approx. 3-4 hours. Arrive at Selous Jimbiza Camp for a hot lunch and some rest at the camp spotting the mongoose, yellow baboons, blue monkeys, vervet monkeys. At 16h00, head out for boat safari with your guide along the mighty Rufiji River watching for hippos, crocodiles, various birdlife (both resident and migrant) as well as buffalos, zebras, giraffes, impalas and other different animals which drift down to the river for a drink till sunset. Dinner and overnight at the Selous Jimbiza Camp.

Day 2: Nyerere National Park Full Day Game Drive

After breakfast at 06h30 going for full day game drive with packed lunch till sunset, lunch will be taken at designated picnic site with facilities of toilets. This day you will cover plentiful of game drive along the river side through those oxbow lakes and other areas watching out for big herds of Elephant and Buffalos, wildebeests, zebras, impalas, giraffes, waterbucks, lions, hyenas, jackals and more. Dinner and overnight at Sable Mountain Lodge

Day 3: Mikumi National National Park

After breakfast, say goodbye to the lodge’s team and Nyerere National Park and drive to Mikumi National Park via Morogoro, passing beautiful landscape and lively local villages en-route. Arrive at Vuma Hills Tented Camp for Dinner & overnight.

Day 4: Mikumi National Park Morning & Afternoon Game Drives

Today, embark on a full day’s worth of game drives in Mikumi National Park, referred to as Little Serengeti due to its abundant wildlife. There is a rich variety bird species as well as large numbers of giraffes, buffaloes and elephants close to the water holes also lions, leopards and hippos. Furthermore, you can see zebras, lions, wild dogs, pythons, hartebeest, wildebeest, elephants, impala, warthog, eland and other antelopes. Several observation towers enable you to overview the park in its entirety. Mikumi National Park is mostly miombo woodland with gently rolling hills. Arrive for lunch at Vuma Hills Tented Camp and after your afternoon safari, return for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Transfer to Ruaha via Iringa

After breakfast, depart for Ruaha National Park with a stop in Iringa town for a sumptuous hot lunch at Neema Crafts. Dinner and overnight Ruaha Hilltop Lodge.

Days 6&7: Game Drives in Ruaha National Park

You will have two full days of game activities in Ruaha National Park. The park covers

12,950 square kilometers, with a large area of dry savanna. The forest contains Miombo woodlands, Acacia woodlands, Riverine forests and Terminalia scrub. Ruaha and Rungwa areas are home to 450 bird species. Ruaha Hilltop Lodge is set on the hillside so you can enjoy the view from the balcony of your private self-contained cottage and even spot giraffes, elephant, baboon and kudus in the distance.

Day 8: Morning Game Drive and Departure

After an early breakfast, head out for a morning game drive en-route to the airstrip for your flight back to Dar es Salaam or onward to Zanzibar.
